Watercolor Study 2007
Architecture can be explored through many medians. This is the New Museum designed by SANAA, Sejima Kazuyo and Ryue Nishizawa. I have used watercolor to describe the harsh yet beautiful contrast between the smooth lines of SANAA's New Museum in juxtaposition with the surfaces around it. The building cannot stand alone, for it would be alien. This structure is a product of its environment.
The sky, the street, and the surrounding structures are rendered differently than the New Museum to show how the intrinsically complex surrounding environment is enhanced by the New Museum, offering a clear mental state for viewing the true artwork; for viewing the architecture and beauty of the surrounding vibrant New York street. I hear the inside is just as amazing.
